It’s not just being able to speak the English language that is important, but learning the art of how to use it.

English and communication skills are needed in order for us to function and operate in just about every area of our lives.

Studying English and Communications subjects at a further level will teach you how to use and understand your communication skills, in a variety of different situations and is an extra personal skill.

Almost all jobs in the UK will expect a basic understanding of the English language and a GCSE in the subject; employers want staff members that are literate and able to communicate with colleagues, clients or customers.

Some professions which involve debating, negotiating, writing, or selling things to people are likely to require further English- or communication-related qualifications, such as English Language, English Literature, Journalism, Media or Communication Studies.
