Similar to most large private organisations, the Government will employ a range of different teams to deal with the various communications service departments internally, such as creating, planning and handling advertising services and accounts.

These departments will be structured in a similar way to large agencies and corporate companies and may have a hand in marketing, branding and sales promotion.

Work involved with Government advertising agencies

Work will involve the harnessing of interactive social media platforms such as blogs, social networking sites, Q & A sites and discussion forums.

A range of web design/web development, search engine marketing, internet advertising/marketing or e-business/e-commerce consulting will also be used to provide specialised services for the digital space.

Roles within

Agencies within the Government have a variety of roles and jobs, including commissioning public information films and publicity campaigns, such as the fire safety cartoon 'Charlie Says' or the Green Cross Code ads which promoted UK National Road Safety.

In 2011 spending on advertising topped £500 million and is incredibly important as it helps send messages across to the public which may help save people's lives.
