AVIATION SECURITY

Airport security will use a variety of different methods and techniques to protect passengers, staff and aircraft from any threat. They have three main aims:

  • To protect the airport and country from any threatening events
  • To reassure the travelling public that they are safe
  • To project the country and their people

The importance of Aviation Security

A huge number of people pass through airports everyday therefore they are potential targets for terrorism and other forms of crime making aviation security a major role within the aviation industry

Due to the concentration of people on large aircraft and the ability to use a hijacked plane as a weapon, there is a high risk of attack.

Security has been stepped up recently after major attacks such as September 11th 2001.
