High fashion labels are known as fashion houses. These houses are often responsible for much of the fashion we see on the high street as well as on the catwalk.

The fashion industry is a fast-paced industry in continual growth and change, especially in the United Kingdom.

There are literally thousands of fashion labels in the UK, including a recent increase in exclusively online fashion labels such as ASOS and Boohoo. Fashion labels in the UK love to look out for young fresh talent.

Fashion Designers

Designers are required to continually come up with new ideas and to set new trends. It is a highly creative industry where ingenuity and inspiration are viewed as key attributes by employers.

All labels, from the highest end fashion houses to the inexpensive retail chains, will hire teams of designers to create ideas for new collections and stock.

Buyers and merchandisers will source textiles and completed pieces to sell on the shop floor or online.

Brand Credibility

Fashion labels will employ all types of designers, from luxury handbag designers to high street lingerie designers.

Photographers, stylists, models and web designers are all also employed by fashion labels to, in each way, creatively enhance brand identity and ultimately sell the label.

The industry is incredibly competitive so employment opportunities can be tough to come by, however it is a rapidly expanding industry in the UK, so great job opportunities are possible in all areas of work.
