Similar to most large companies or organisations, the government will have a range of different teams to deal with the various creative service departments internally, such as creating, planning and handling marketing and PR services. Work will involve interactive social media platforms such as blogs, social networking sites, Q & A sites and discussion forums. A range of web design/web development, search engine marketing, internet advertising/marketing or e-business/e-commerce consulting will also be used so to provide specialised services for the digital space.
Agencies within the government have a variety of roles including commissioning public information films and publicity campaigns such as the fire safety cartoon 'Charlie Says' or the Green Cross Code ads which promoted UK National Road Safety. In 2011 spending on advertising, marketing and PR topped £500 million and is incredibly important as it helps send messages across to the public which may help save people's lives.
