New business managers will be employed in the largest advertising and marketing agencies companies. They are employed primarily to come up with strategies which will attract new clients and consolidate existing client relationships. The are sometimes also known as business development managers.
New business managers scan industry news and trade press in order to scope out new business opportunities. They research potential clients and their advertising histories, follow new business leads and develop ways to win their business.
It will be their responsibility to arrange the meetings and pitch new business proposals to prospective clients whilst keeping a close eye on the agency’s image in the press and elsewhere, ensuring that it is widely perceived as a desirable and lucrative business partner.
They organise and attend agency events to which they will invite existing and potential clients and will go to other industry events to network and build their contact list.
