Asset management is the management of a client's investments and finances. An asset managers job is to oversee the assets owned, leased and subleased by a client or organisation.

Asset managers are responsible for offering advice and providing senior management and board members with options of how and where to invest assets. Assets can be in the form of physical or intellectual property, ranging from copyright licenses to land owned. Asset managers' duties can vary from role to role but they must keep check of all the employer or client assets.

The assets than require monitoring can include checking services, credit cards, debit cards, margin loans and brokerage services. They must negotiate and monitor the progress of the invested assets and prepare reports at regular occasions to report back to the client or organisation.

The ultimate aim is to increase the value of assets.
