Life coaches assist with decisions in peoples’ lives and help motivate clients in ways which will help them achieve certain goals. They aid individuals or couples in improving personal and professional lives through a structured process comprised of tools and techniques similar to counselling and psychotherapy.

Initially they talk to clients and find out what they want to prioritise and what they want to improve in their lives. They then set goals for their clients and set out plans for how these can be achieved. They must monitor process and provide helpful resources if needed.

Life coaches need to instil trust, honesty and a sense of equality in order to build relationships with clients and ultimately assist in their personal development.

Most are self-employed or belong to a professional partnership.
