News reporters’ salaries are dependent on numerous factors including geographical location, size, nature, circulation and revenue of the publication.

Starting salaries for young reporters range from £12,000 – £26,000 although many graduates and less experienced reporters will often work unpaid for months, even years, before securing a paid position.

Reporters with more experience, working for publications with large circulation, can earn between £22,000 and £40,000 and may advance towards a senior editorial role.
