Tourism and tourist guides make up a major part of the UK Tourism Industry. Their key job is to conduct tours for groups of tourists in a whole host of locations. They must be excellent at organising tours and ensuring that clients know where to meet them and when. They will attract clients through a marketing scheme, of which they will have a sound understanding.

Their key tool for making the tour interesting will be what they know. Their knowledge of the attraction they are visiting will make the tour memorable and ensure they have return business and are referred to other tourists who may visit. Their knowledge will depend on where their expertise is and the specific attraction. Some will run tours round stately homes, castles, homes, museums, galleries or places of religious significance.

Whilst conducting tours they must be able to answer questions on the subject they are visiting whilst remaining enthusiastic and handling any problems that may arise.
