More Scots secure university places

Scotland universities thumbnailSince the exam results were published last week, nearly 3,000 Scots have found a place at university north of the border. Admissions body, UCAS said 25,550 Scots will now be attending university.

The clearing process, which allocates spare places to those who do not get into their first choice, has been previously criticised as putting Scots at a disadvantage to students from the rest of the UK.MORE >

Jobs figures boost Scots recovery

New figures published today show a high level of optimism for Scotland and its economic recovery. The Bank of Scotland found that the average permanent salaries rose at their fastest pace since September 2007 and the number of jobs on offer grew at its strongest rate for 14 months.MORE >
